AutoElectric Warranty FAQs
The AutoElectric Warranty helps with the cost of repairing or replacing specified electrical components if they suffer a sudden electrical breakdown during normal use, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions in your policy.
It also includes UK roadside assistance and recovery via Call Assist.
For the full list of covered items and limits, please refer to your policy booklet.
Your vehicle must:
- Be less than 10 years old and have fewer than 100,000 miles when the policy starts
- Be a car or small commercial vehicle under 3,500kg, used for private purposes
- Be in a sound, roadworthy condition with no undeclared pre-existing faults
Certain vehicle types (for example taxis, driving school vehicles, emergency service vehicles, heavily modified or imported vehicles) are excluded unless we’ve specifically agreed otherwise. Full eligibility criteria are set out in the policy booklet.
If you think you have a fault that may be covered, contact the Best4 Claims Department on 03300 944 444 as soon as possible and before any work starts.
You’ll need:
- Your policy number
- Your vehicle details and current mileage
- A diagnosis from a VAT-registered garage (including fault codes where applicable)
Once repairs are authorised and completed, you must send the repairer’s VAT invoice and any requested supporting documents within 14 days (28 days if the incident happened outside the UK).
Your vehicle must be serviced in line with the manufacturer’s recommended schedule at a VAT-registered garage, and you must keep fully itemised VAT invoices or a correctly stamped service book as proof.
For AutoElectric, you must also have a Vehicle Health Check and High Voltage Battery Health Check carried out within 6 months or 6,000 miles of the policy start date and then every 6 months or 6,000 miles thereafter.
Failure to follow these service and battery health requirements may result in claims being rejected.
Yes. AutoElectric includes roadside assistance, recovery and Homestart in the UK, provided by Call Assist, for the duration stated on your policy schedule (up to 36 months).
European assistance and journey length are subject to time limits – please see your policy booklet for full details.
The policy does not cover everything. Key exclusions include:
- Routine servicing and maintenance
- Consumable items such as brake pads and discs, tyres, fluids and wiper blades
- Wear & Tear (gradual deterioration) unless optional Wear & Tear cover has been purchased
- Pre-existing faults or defects that were present before the policy started or not properly disclosed
- Damage due to neglect, abuse, lack of servicing, external causes or modifications
A full list of exclusions is provided in the “What is Not Covered” and “Exclusions” sections of your policy booklet.
Yes, subject to our agreement. If you sell your vehicle, you may transfer the remaining cover to a new private owner, provided:
- No claims have been made
- There is no outstanding finance on the policy
- The DVLA is updated with the new keeper details
Your application to transfer must be made within 14 days of the change of ownership, and a £35 administration fee applies. The policy cannot be transferred to a motor trader or to another vehicle.
We’ll normally need:
- Your policy number, name and address
- A diagnosis from a VAT-registered repairer, including any diagnostic fault codes
- The repairer’s VAT invoice showing vehicle details, mileage, work carried out and who is to be paid
- Any additional documents we specifically request (for example, proof of servicing or high-voltage battery health checks)
All relevant claim documentation must be received within 14 days of completion of repairs (28 days if the incident occurred outside the UK).
Yes. If the policy does not meet your requirements, you may cancel it within 14 days of issue for a full refund, provided no claim has been made.
After this period, you can cancel at any time (again, provided no claim has been made) and receive a pro-rata refund of your premium for the unused complete months of cover, less a £35 administration fee.
If your vehicle is declared a total loss, the policy will be cancelled with no refund of premium.
